Control.
Control is a very touchy subject. Some thrive when in power, others tumble into a frenzy. Everyone deals with control, power and actions differently. In life there are some things you have control over and others you don’t.
World peace for example: I would love to say that I am personally responsible for changing the world-for creating world peace. But let’s look at reality, it’s not going to happen. Even with a genie it just would not be possible.
Well speaking of a Genie… I really wouldn’t mind having someone follow me around and grant my every desire. Too bad you can’t have an endless supply of wishes..
Controlling Time: I love the rush writing gives you, the feeling once you finish a story. However, if I could just stop the clock for just a few short minuets when writing deadlines approach-well what more could you ask for?
Being Santa Claus: Yes this one’s rather silly! But a long beard and a room full of Christmas cheer sounds pretty good to me!
A billion dollars: Kay let’s see, I’ll take a beach house, my own personal island, a world class chef and what else can I buy? Just about anything I want, but money doesn’t buy happiness.
In life there is also that in which we do control.
Friendship: I would take this over getting a genie any day! With friends the wishes you get really are endless. You have a shoulder to cry on, an endless supply of laughs and countless memories. I certainly have these at CSPA. It has amazed me quite how close you get in such a short amount of time.
Success: To an extent we are the ones that control our own success. We control what we do, and what work we put into life. It is often said that you get out, whatever you put into something. So while we can’t necessarily choose to become a billion dollar corporation, we can choose to create the buildings blocks for success. Besides, success means something different to everyone.
Optimism: For me, happiness goes in tandem with success. I think a major part of success lies in happiness, and happiness in optimism. Yes, we all have a bad day but it is rising up from those experiences and choosing to look at the bright side that helps for a much happier life.
I myself fall victim to the temptations of the words “I want.” Yes, that which I do not control would be great to have, but in reality we control so much more than we realize. We control the ability to obtain friendships, success, optimism and so much more. We control our lives and our futures.
Absolutely love it! Its so provocative and meaningful with a twist of humor. Just wow.
