Vista Grande’s awful Chinese food

There was definitely nothing “sage” about the chinese food we had for dinner last night. After a brutally long day, I just wanted a little protein and veggies for dinner. Not too much to ask, right? After all, my expectations had been greatly lowered after the first few nights at Vista Grande.

When I saw that we had Chinese food for dinner I wasn’t exactly jumping for joy, but at least there would be some “beef and broccoli” or teriyaki chicken or something. But once again, Sage Restaurant managed to fall short of even my already lowered expectations.

There were three trays of what I’m almost positive were all the exact same thing. One tray was some grilled vegetable tray, the other was practically identical except that it had more mushrooms, and the third was noodles with grilled vegetables.

No meat had revealed itself so far, so I directed my attention to the tray on the far right, which was always the designated meat tray. To my dismay, Mitchell had just taken the last of the beef. Sick.

I asked the server if there was going to be any more beef. He said no.

I decided not to take my anger out on this guy, learning from my recently acquired minimum wage job that low-level workers like him have zero control, and went to finish my first plate.

I returned later for a simple salad to get my salad. For the second time this week, the lettuce bowl was empty. As was the bacon bits bowl. After requesting more lettuce earlier in the week and seeing the enormous plastic bag where it came from, I gave up.

And to top it all off, I I overcompensated my hunger by gorging on energy bars that my parents had sent me and ended up feeling gross.

The food is so nasty. I’m going to buy fresh groceries at the campus market and make my own meals from now on.

Yeah, I think I’m just going to eat lunch at Campus Market now. Their food is so good.

Dang – kinda’ harsh, don’t you think? What was your basis for comparison? What’s your beef with Sage, anyway?

Possibly their lack of beef was my “beef.” I feel kind of bad though because I realized that it was actually called Vista Grande and not Sage Restaurant.
