A slightly beat up version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone peaks slightly out of 17-year-old Lindsey Agnew’s faux-leather bag.
“It’s comforting to read something as familiar as Harry Potter when I’m in a new place. Particularly, in a stressful situation,” Agnew said.
Agnew started her self-proclaimed “Harry Potter nerdiness” with a box set of the books given to her as a Christmas gift from her grandfather.
Her last encounter with Potter was exactly as childhood Lindsey had envisioned it: dressed up, hyped up on candy, and boldly sporting Gryffindor colors at the final movie’s, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, midnight movie release.
“I wanted to do something like this before I got so old that it would be really weird or at least weirder,” Agnew said.
Agnew’s sendoff to a beloved series was not with tears glistening in her eyes, but rather with sleep deprived raucous laughter.
This isn’t the end Agnew asserts. Potter will stay with Agnew every time she buys new supplies for a new school year. Wishing that rather than science textbooks and chemistry supplies she was purchasing a charms textbook and potions ingredients.
