When I get back home to New York, I will be able to take my permit test. However, in California, almost everyone my age has at least their permit, a lot of them have their full license.

Lets take a look at the differences between driving laws in New York and California

  New York California
Permit 16 15 1/2
Provisional License 16 1/2 16
Full License 17 with Drivers Ed, 18 without 17

As shown by the chart, people living in California are half a year ahead of the New Yorkers when getting their permits and licenses.

It just one more thing that I have learned since being in California for almost two weeks! Check back for more on the East Coast Perspective.
