This does not go along with the East Coast Perspective, but it was an article from Using online tools for readers. Students picked names and had 2 minutes to look through their Facebook page to find a story to report about. Here’s my story:

When a Christian is born, they are usually baptized. However, Kylie West, 18 of Laguna Beach, never had that opportunity. West’s life was changed on July 1 when her dream came true: she was baptized.

West has been attending Hume Lake summer camp since her middle school years. Hume Lake is a Christian camp in Ponderosa, California, where students engage in Christian teachings and enrich their lives through Christianity.

At the camp, her pastor was offering to baptize people. “It was kind of last minute,” said West. “My pastor was doing it to a few kids and I had never done it so I said I’d love to join.”

A devout Christian, West attends Sunday services almost every week and sometimes Bible studies during the week. She is also involved in a youth group at her church where she connects with other Christian teens. Therefore, being baptized was a life-changing event for West.

“It’s a very meaningful thing as a Christian It was really moving and emotional,” said West. “It was also really meaningful to be baptized at Hume Lake because my life has been changed by going there.”

West said, “God is my life.”
