CSPA and Facebook

Before the workshop started, CSPA created a facebook group for everyone going to the workshop this summer.  At the beginning, we were asked to introduce ourselves and give a brief introduction. So I was the first brave soul and said hello to everyone and told them a little bit about myself. From then on, people starting talking about themselves and I learned about our counselors and such. Once the workshop started everyone made sure to become friends with each other on facebook which was nice because from that point foward everyone got to know each other better through their profiles. Here’s where things really got fun, starting Wednesday people started taking pictures of experiences at camp, such as our trip to the public records office and court house, and uploading them to facebook. When this started happening people were liking certain photos, commenting on them and even joking on them. I for example took a picture of James’s breakfast this morning because of how healthy it was, and uploaded it to facebook only to see hours later multiple comments and likes.

If you haven’t gotten my point yet its that as the workshop progresses and we all are getting to know each other better and we are using facebook to basically show how all of us are becoming better friends. After being in high school for three years, I know that facebook is already used to be social on your computer but that is just more time spent with friends you see everyday. The way everyone reacts on facebook from CSPA is really unique but because of it we will be able to carry out these friendships for a long time through social networking.

The instructors tell us every night how they have known each other ever since they went to the workshop and now that we have facebook, everyone at this year’s workshop will have the ability to do the same for the next 60 years.
