2017 CSPA Workshop Graduation
CSPA alum and board member Rich Hammond (center) presents workshop awards in 2017 to (from left) Hala Ozgur, Valentina Martinez, Sophie Haber and Alex Wong.

Dear CSPA Workshop student,

It’s my honor each summer to work with our students, who consistently are some of the brightest, most talented young journalists in the country. You’re joining a prestigious group. Many of our recent graduates have gone on to win Journalist of the Year awards at the state and national levels, and they attribute much of their success to what they learned during their 13 days in San Luis Obispo.

We’re excited about our 2020 curriculum, which covers the fundamentals of solid reporting and writing, and also explores what it takes to be an effective journalist in the current multimedia landscape. You’ll write stories, take pictures and video, do a podcast and a news broadcast, and learn how to work with your colleagues and also compete against them. It’s an experience you’ll never forget, and you’ll also make lifelong friends.

We’re excited to share more about the workshop with you in the coming weeks, and to see you at Cal Poly in July.
