For more than seven decades, the California Scholastic Press Association has helped shape young journalists. The lessons we teach at the workshop, including clear writing and critical thinking, have never been more important. 

We are a non-profit organization. Our instructors and board members are unpaid volunteers, which allows us to keep our tuition costs far lower than most overnight programs.

We rely entirely on student tuition and charitable contributions to cover our low operating costs. Your generous gift helps to support the next generation of American journalists and helps to defray the cost of tuition for our students.

The California Scholastic Press Association is a registered 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, federal tax ID #23-7055580. Your gift is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Ways to give

On Facebook

Help spread the word to friends and family by contributing to our Giving Tuesday campaign. Contributions through Facebook are processed and shared with us through PayPal’s Giving Fund. You will receive an official donation receipt from PayPal.

Via PayPal

We also accept contributions through PayPal, which has certified CSPA through the Giving Fund program for 501(c)3 nonprofits. You will receive an official donation receipt from PayPal.

By mail

Ways to extend your gift

Match your donation: Many employers will double or triple your contributions through a corporate charitable match program. We highly encourage this option, as it can dramatically increase your impact at no added cost.

Please ask your employer for more information. We recommend that you verify with your employer whether you should give directly through their portal, or whether you can submit a receipt from a donation on another platform.

Become a sustaining supporter: Your monthly contribution through PayPal will help us plan our scholarship capacity in advance of the summer workshop.

Give through your IRA: Federal law allows those ages 70½ and older to make direct transfers from their IRAs to charitable organizations without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income. The withdrawal can be counted toward your required minimum distribution.
